Nightmares

Normally I'm not partial to darker photography, but this is what came together. It reminds me of a nightmare because it seems rare that a "Merry Go Round" could display such horror. That's how it is with most nightmares; clam and gentle things can become so frightening in just a matter of minutes. Then you wake up, and all is back to normal.

Erin Lindsey ~ Shadow's Roots

Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough to nourish a man's growth without destroying his roots.

Disappearing Shadows

Tonight when I was taking this picture, the shadows kept changing and disappearing on me. I was trying to trying to get the look of refraction in this picture.

Shadow of Turning

A shadow is the edge of light. The moment where light stops its influence and darkness takes over. Its hard to take a photos where shadow rather than light is the focus, shadow is such a shy subject. For this assignment {shadow} I was seeking to show the struggle between the fading light and the encroaching darkness.

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." James1:17

Freedom

"My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace"

"If the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
John 8:36

Hope

She died,--this was the way she died;
And when her breath was done,
Took up her simple wardrobe
And started for the sun.
Her little figure at the gate
The angels must have spied,
Since I could never find her
Upon the mortal side.

{Emily Dickinson}

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born
again to a living hope through the resurrection of
Jesus Christ from the dead.
 ~1peter1:3

Erin Lindsey - Self Portrait

“It's not denial. I'm just selective about the reality I accept.” - Calvin

I'm not sure how I feel about this one, but it needed to be posted because
I had to stand bare foot in the snow to take it. :)

It's hard to find an angle, when everything you see is normally mirrored. I feel awkward taking pictures of myself, I feel like its a "notice me" tactic or something. But I guess if you're going to be a photographer you'd better get use to it because you don't get good pictures hiding behind the bush.

"When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;" Psm. 8:3

The hardest thing about photography for me is being on the other end of it.
It means having an openness that allows the photographer to capture us in that moment,
and others to revisit that moment afterward.
I would rather be the photographer.

"The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy,
 your whole body will be full of light." {matthew 6:22}

"The eyes are the windows to your soul"

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures."   {James 1:17-18}
